Meet the Anaheim Team Behind Mainspring Garage Door Co.
We’ve been fixing, installing, and tuning garage doors in Anaheim since 1984. The crew you’ll meet here isn’t a rotating cast of subcontractors. These are the same faces who show up to jobs in the Platinum Triangle, the Colony, and out toward Anaheim Hills. What holds us together isn’t a handbook. It’s the K.E.Y.S. code we train under: Krafted right, Every time, Your home first, Standing behind it. Carl Dutton started this thing, and he still answers the phone some nights when the line rings past midnight.
Our People
Carl Dutton, Owner
I started Mainspring in 1984, back when Anaheim was still mostly orange groves and the Disneyland parking lot ended where Katella began. Named the company for the mainspring, the coil that carries the full weight of a door. Seemed honest. Still does. I’ve personally replaced springs in every neighborhood from West Anaheim to the hills above Yorba Linda, and I train every technician who comes through our shop as a journeyman under the K.E.Y.S. values. These days I split time between running calls and making sure the phones still get answered by a live person at 2 a.m. My daughter says I talk about torsion springs at dinner. She’s not wrong.
Mike R., Lead Technician
Mike joined us in 2011 after eight years running his own small repair outfit in Santa Ana. He came to us because he was tired of chasing parts across Orange County and wanted a truck that left the warehouse fully stocked. Mike specializes in high-cycle torsion spring systems and has a weird gift for diagnosing opener logic board failures by sound alone. He’s factory-familiar with LiftMaster, Genie, and Chamberlain gear, and he’s the one we send when a door in the Anaheim Hills has a custom wood overlay that’s throwing the balance off. Off the clock, he restores vintage motorcycles in a garage that’s cleaner than most showrooms. His wife thinks it’s excessive. Mike doesn’t care.
Dana L., Senior Installer
Dana came up through the trade in Riverside, cutting her teeth on commercial rollup doors before she ever touched a residential panel. She’s been with Mainspring since 2016 and handles our full-replacement jobs from initial measure to final walkthrough. Dana’s particularly sharp on Clopay and Amarr door lines, and she’s trained on Wayne Dalton’s TorqueMaster system, which most crews in Anaheim won’t touch because the spring tube is enclosed. She lives in Orange, knows the permitting quirks of Anaheim’s building department by first name, and once spent three hours on a Saturday explaining wind-load ratings to a retired engineer in the Colony until he was satisfied. He still calls us.
Terrence V., Service Coordinator
Terrence is the voice you hear when you call (714) 782-0297 at midnight on a Sunday. He’s been with us four years, came from hotel front-desk management, and treats every emergency call like someone’s standing in a dark driveway with a door that won’t close. He dispatches the crew, keeps the parts inventory tight so trucks roll out stocked, and tracks every job to make sure the 90-Day Done Right Promise gets honored without paperwork or argument. Terrence grew up in West Anaheim, still lives there, and can tell you which streets flood hard enough to rust bottom brackets every El Niño season. He keeps a notebook of repeat customer preferences that he refuses to digitize.
Javier M., Apprentice Technician
Javier started with us in 2023, fresh from the Orange County trade program, and he’s been riding with Mike three days a week since. He’s already certified on cable and roller replacement, and he’s working toward his torsion spring qualification under Mike’s direct supervision. Javier’s from the Anaheim Colony district, and he brings a local’s eye to jobs in the older neighborhoods where the headers aren’t always square and the concrete’s shifted since the original install. He asks more questions than he answers, which is exactly what you want in someone who’ll be running his own truck inside two years. His first solo call was a broken spring on a Raynor door in Platinum Triangle. He called Mike twice. Finished in under an hour.
One Standard, Every Job
Every technician on this page wears a Mainspring uniform, has passed a background check, and carries the same stocked inventory on their truck. Whether Mike’s swapping a Genie opener in a condo near the Honda Center or Dana’s measuring a custom Amarr install up in Anaheim Hills, the process doesn’t change. We state the flat price before any work begins. We leave the 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing on every invoice. And if something’s not right, we come back. No dispute line, no voicemail maze. Carl started that policy in 1984 because he hated arguing with contractors himself. Still hate it. Still don’t do it.
We’ve got fifteen communities across Orange County, but Anaheim is where the phones ring first and where most of us live. When you call (714) 782-0297, day or night, Terrence or Carl picks up. The person who answers schedules the job, knows the crew, and knows your neighborhood. That’s not a phone tree talking. That’s us.
